In recognition of her performance, she won the Soap Opera Digest Award as an Outstanding Female Newcomer. The following years, she mainly played guest roles on several television series. For instance, in the TV show Hawthorne, she was recognized for her role as her character Dr. Erin Jameson. Her character slowly gained a huge fan base with her stunning look and incredible acting talents. Her film debut was at around twenty, when she played her role in Campfire Stones. Other films she has appeared in include Jekyll This Means War and Chasing Mavericks. As part of Beautiful Now, she was nominated for the Madrid International Film Festival Award. Most recently, Spencer played Lucy Preston (history professor) in Timeless. Spencer is nominated to win the Teen Choice Award after her appearance on the show was praised by viewers and critics.
